Earth Mother
1m x 70 cm

To me the female figure is the origin of love. I purposefully drew her in the nude because that brings out the essence of her being. In her hands
she holds the man figure. From her body through her arms into her hands
and into the “sun man” flows her energy and love. Out of the sun the love energy flows into the love pool from where it flows onto the flowers which are symbols of children.  The drawer is a hiding place for all her inner feelings and secrets.

Staircase of Life
1m x 70 cm

In “Staircase of life” the house symbolizes a
place of love and harmony. Out of the
door springs a dark stream of love water
which runs down the staircase and each step,
symbolizing a different stage of life. It finally
flows into the pond of life.
The two figures show the
relationship between man and woman. I wanted
to use the trees in such  a way that they give
a feeling of protection.

The Guardians
1m x 70 cm

In “The Guardians” I was inspired by a destination
in Mozambique. The African chair does exist
but I added a carved cross opening which
symbolizes the life force  – “Creator”. The shell
being very fragile symbolizes the delicate balance in
nature. The three guardians who are part of the dunes
is the manifestation of the life force.
They also bring
out the sensuous and voluptuous shadows and
shapes of the dunes always in a state of change.

Soul of the Tree
1m x 70 cm

Soul of the tree “Here my intention was to bring out the ancient and mystic relationship between the
elephant and the baobab tree.
The elephant moves into the picture from left to right almost shadowy
like and manifest itself in the tree where it becomes the soul of the tree and moves out again on its
endless journey. It was also my intention to make the elephant part of the surrounding landscape – there is no end and no beginning.

Dreambed
1m x 70 cm

In “Dreambed” we have a female figure laying under a leafy cloth. I drew it in such a way to give a feeling of lightness, almost transparent as if she is afloat,
surrounded by the universe. In her left hand she holds flowers that are an anchor to her life on earth. The tree
in the center is a tombstone, in this case a tombstone with birds symbolizing happiness and contentment. I would like to end by saying that all these drawings
gave me the utmost pleasure to draw, and besides the symbolic meaning of each I still had to draw them in a
balanced way, with the different tonal values and contrasts.
